Message from the
Lodge #69 President

Brothers and Sisters,

The Lodge has had a busy Holiday Season I want to thank all of you who volunteered your time to help out with the Cops and Kids program on December 3rd. I especially want to thank Brother Tim Ortwein who chaired the event and worked tirelessly to make it happen. We had a huge turn out with 85 children in attendance. Wegmans out did themselves with the amount of great tasting food they put out. Target followed with a streamlined system for shopping and check out. The kids got to see Santa at both locations and receive a special gift hat that Tim’s mom’s ladies group from Massachusetts knitted for each child. The lodge will be thanking both companies at our installation dinner dance in February.

The next day December 4th was filled with family fun at the 1757 Golf Club. We held our annual Lodge Holiday party where the kids got to see Santa and Mrs. Claus. Each child got to get a photo with the Clauses and a gift to go home with. The night was topped off by Brother Pat Macmac MC a TV game show challenge.

The lodge hosted a thank you Holiday dinner party on December 17th for all the members who volunteered for Cops and Kids. This was at the Dulles Towne center Greene Turtle restaurant. We had a great turn out and a really good time.

Our next meeting is Wednesday January 11th at 6:30 PM. It is at our normal meeting place Merones Buon Appetito catering. This is an important meeting as we will be holding nominations for the executive board of the lodge. Nominations are taken from the floor that night and ballots will be sent out to members in good standing. The votes will be counted at the February 8th meeting by the election committee members.

That brings me to my next announcement that on February 25, 2012 the lodge will be hosting our annual Installation Dinner Dance. 6pm for Cocktails followed by Dinner a new DJ and dancing. All at the Doubletree Hotel located at 21611 Atlantic Boulevard Sterling, Va. Rooms are $69.00. Invites will be going out with the ballots.

Hope to see you all there.

FOP Lodge #69 Hosts 12th Annual
Cops and Kids Program

2011 Cops and Kids

The Loudoun-Dulles Fraternal Order of Police #69 held their 12th annual Cops and Kids Holiday program this past weekend, partnering with Wegmans and Target in Sterling.

The event, supported by local law enforcement including members from the FBI, US Park Police, US Customs, Secret Service, Va. State Police, DMV, ABC, Cigarette Enforcement, DEA, Purcellville Police Department, Fairfax County Police Department and over 40 Loudoun County Sheriff Deputies, provided toys and holiday Cheer for area children in need. Nearly 100 children attended, and were greeted by deputies and law enforcement personnel dedicated to supporting the needs of children in our community.

For more information see our news page or download the Cops and Kids press release.

Thanks for coming out to show your support at the Greene Turtle Dulles Grand Opening FOP Cops and Kids™ Fundraiser!

VAFOP and Greene Turtle Fundraiser

We had a terrific time and turn out at the Grand Opening of the Greene Turtle Sportsbar/restruant on Friday Night. The mangement along with 106.7 the Fan raised over $1,000.00 for the "Cops and Kids" foundation. This is outstanding considering we split the proceeds with the Sterling Volunteer fire Department who was also on hand.

Brother Marty Kloeden
Recognized by Town of Purcellville

Brothers and Sisters,

Purcellville - On Wednesday, August 17, 2011, the Town of Purcellville held their annual employee awards luncheon. This program was created by Town Council over ten years ago to take an opportunity each year to celebrate the hard work, exceptional service, and staff's dedication to the community. Two years ago, the town initiated three new individual awards to recognize staff members who have demonstrated exemplary overall performance and commitment to excellence in their role with the Town. Nominations were submitted by staff and the final list was reviewed and a winner was chosen by a panel.

FOP Member and former Director of Loudoun-Dulles Lodge #69, Marty Kloeden, was selected as the Town Hall Employee of the Year for 2011. Marty is a retired Purcellville Police Officer and serves as the Special Assistant to the Purcellville Town Manager. Marty is an attorney and also serves as the FOP Lodge #69 Legal Advisor.

On behalf of the Executive Board of the FOP Lodge #69, we would like to recognize Brother Kloeden for his special accomplishment and thank him for his service to our Lodge.
