Brothers and Sisters,
The Lodge has had a busy Holiday Season I want to thank all of you who volunteered your time to help out with the Cops and Kids program on December 3rd. I especially want to thank Brother Tim Ortwein who chaired the event and worked tirelessly to make it happen. We had a huge turn out with 85 children in attendance. Wegmans out did themselves with the amount of great tasting food they put out. Target followed with a streamlined system for shopping and check out. The kids got to see Santa at both locations and receive a special gift hat that Tim’s mom’s ladies group from Massachusetts knitted for each child. The lodge will be thanking both companies at our installation dinner dance in February.
The next day December 4th was filled with family fun at the 1757 Golf Club. We held our annual Lodge Holiday party where the kids got to see Santa and Mrs. Claus. Each child got to get a photo with the Clauses and a gift to go home with. The night was topped off by Brother Pat Macmac MC a TV game show challenge.
The lodge hosted a thank you Holiday dinner party on December 17th for all the members who volunteered for Cops and Kids. This was at the Dulles Towne center Greene Turtle restaurant. We had a great turn out and a really good time.
Our next meeting is Wednesday January 11th at 6:30 PM. It is at our normal meeting place Merones Buon Appetito catering. This is an important meeting as we will be holding nominations for the executive board of the lodge. Nominations are taken from the floor that night and ballots will be sent out to members in good standing. The votes will be counted at the February 8th meeting by the election committee members.
That brings me to my next announcement that on February 25, 2012 the lodge will be hosting our annual Installation Dinner Dance. 6pm for Cocktails followed by Dinner a new DJ and dancing. All at the Doubletree Hotel located at 21611 Atlantic Boulevard Sterling, Va. Rooms are $69.00. Invites will be going out with the ballots.
Hope to see you all there.
